We caught up with Katrin Herrling, CEO and Co-Founder of Funding Xchange, who gained a Highly Commended accolade in the 2019 Rise FinTech Awards.
What have been your key achievements since taking the highly commended in the Rise FinTech Award?
Raising of Series A round of $10 million, enabling us to bring together the most talented team I have ever worked with, to open an office in Cardiff.
What are you most proud of?
Raising two amazing kids.
What keeps you busy these days? What does the future hold for Funding Xchange?
The need for small-to-medium enterprises to access funding easily and safely, and for lenders and banks to deliver it in a quick and seamless manner has never been greater. So ensuring we are at the heart of the solution keeps us pretty busy! The COVID-19 crisis has also highlighted how much lenders need to digitise, so the year ahead promises to be super busy implementing our credit-as-a-service solution at banks and lenders across the UK.
What do you think was the key factor in your success in the Rise FinTech Award?
We always put the customer first, work out what their real needs are, and how we can make their lives easier. It takes longer that way, rather than building something that’s sort of right but easier to make, but it’s the better way in the long term.
What advice would you give to any FinTechs considering entering this year’s competition?
Always focus on the customer, not the technology.
